Organic Chicken Slaughter Recovers

Organic chicken slaughter is rebounding after weekly numbers in Q4 sank to their lowest levels in 2023.  As 2023 came to a close, weekly bird count spiked, surpassing one million birds. This trend has continued into the new year. These increases do not indicate any new demand pattern but show a trend that may see weekly poultry slaughter return to levels above nine million pounds.

Merchandisers have described organic poultry production expansion in in the Mid-Atlantic, with integrators actively encouraging producers to consider organic transition. Poultry companies are bullish on organic chicken demand, and growth of 2-3 percent annually is easily attainable.
