January Corn and Soybean Crush

DDGS prices have declined in the Iowa market on Monday, while other locations remained steady. Market participants noted that the Eastern markets are still low, with trading activity indicated as very slow.

CME grain prices shifted higher across the board on Monday. May soymeal increased by $1.20/st and closed at $333.50/st. May soybeans increased by $0.0375 and settled at $11.55/bu. Furthermore, May corn futures rose $0.0525 to $4.30/bu, and May wheat increased by $0.0625 to $5.64/bu. Corn and wheat prices benefitted from a wave of bargain buying and short-covering, resulting in price increases. Soybean prices climbed alongside other grains but only recorded modest gains. However, market players are now shifting their attention to U.S. spring planting following the recent warm weather in the Midwest.
