Falling Demand has Glycerin Prices Unchanged Despite Chevron Idling Two Plants

The excitement that had seemingly begun swirling in the glycerin market several weeks back has apparently faded or at least paused. Pricing is flat to slightly lower to begin the week.


Market participants view glycerin values as holding steady with little to no interest to produce a change in current levels. Several people have mentioned that to get product moved, one might have to sell at a lower price to incentivize the buyer.

January domestic biodiesel production was 10 percent below December production, reducing the supply of glycerin in the market. While February’s domestic production is not currently known, it is suspected to be lower once again.
