‘Hangover mood’ from low HVO demand pushes European animal fats prices down

Used cooking oil (UCO) traded in a range of $940-945/mt CIF Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Ghent (ARAG) for delivery in ISO tanks this week, while FOB Asia levels firmed to $860-865/mt for shipments in flexi-tanks and to $840-850/mt for bulk.

European UCO was heard trading at around €1,000/mt EXW in Spain €1,005-1,010/mt levels in ARAG, with steady demand reported in the region.

Rapeseed oil (RSO) prices moved higher this week, amid continuous growing demand and tight supply, with March offers heard at €910/mt FOB Dutch Mill, while bids increased by about €30/mt during the week to €880/mt. April shipments were priced just a touch lower at €900/mt, marking a €25/mt week-on-week change, with buyers targeting €875/mt FOB.

Animal fat prices traded lower into and within the EU market on weakening demand from the renewable diesel (HVO) sector.
