Most AP items steady; Porcine items move higher

A high of $475 per short ton was reported on porcine meat and bonemeal for Tuesday March 18, in limited quantities. A wide range of $375-450 per short ton (st) was noted as increased demand was reported for most meat and bonemeal values. Porcine bloodmeal was also firmer for the day with most participants at the high end of the range. Market participants said production slowdowns at several locations limited availability.

Ruminant meat and bonemeal was called firmer in the near term but remained within the previously set values for the day. Even with lower slaughter limiting offerings, price pressure on soybean meal is expected to weigh on values out front.

Most other items were flat for the day with a sluggish tone indicated by market sources.
