Biodiesel imports and exports on record setting pace

February biodiesel imports reached 54.5 million gallons, according to Census Bureau data released today. This was nearly 8% above January imports of 50.6 million gallons and 46% above the 37 million gallons received a year ago. Monthly import volume reached its highest level since September 2023 and was a record high for the month of February, surpassing the February five-year average by 242%.

Biodiesel was imported from six countries, two fewer than in January. Germany, Spain, and Canada were the top contributors, supplying 89% of the volume. Belgium, Italy, and Malaysia provided the balance. February biodiesel imports remain well above the 2023 monthly average of 43 million gallons.
