Tallow trades in wide range into the US Gulf

Tallow traded higher into the US Gulf market today at 41 and 44 cents lb delivered. Trading into and through the Chicago market was quiet.

Distiller’s corn oil (DCO) was steady on an FOB basis, but trading was lower into the Manly, IA market for the June position.

The EIA estimated ethanol production for the week ending April 5 at an average of 1.056 million barrels per day in its Weekly Petroleum Status Report published on Wednesday April 10. Output was down from the week prior, reversing a trend of higher week-on-week production.

Ethanol production has historically slowed in April as ethanol plants idle for seasonal maintenance ahead of the strong summer demand period. The production average for April for 2021 – 2023 was 964,917 b/d, down from an average of 1.005 million b/d for May.
