MBM and BM mixed to softer on lower demand

For Tuesday April 16, animal proteins were mixed with most market sources indicating pressure on meat and bonemeal (MBM) and bloodmeal (BM). Market sources indicated mixed demand on MBM exports along with lower domestic interest for feed, but active to brisk demand from the pet food sector. This has created a have-have-not tone for most items and regions.

Porcine MBM FOB Mo. River was reported as low as $380 per short ton (st) and as high as $450/st, both in light volume, with the bulk of trade in the $390-430/st range.

Ruminant MBM was called steady for the day, though the Texas Panhandle FOB region was reported as low as $250/st in limited volume. Porcine BM FOB Mo. River was reported in light volume as low as $1,100/st, though the bulk of trade could not be confirmed as of press time. A new range of $1,175-1,250 was indicated, with deals heard as high as $1,275/st.
