Broiler slaughter moves higher into May

Animal proteins on Wednesday April 17 had modest range adjustments, with market sources calling the market, “quiet.” Meat and bonemeal as well as bloodmeal remain under negative pressure, however, no price adjustments were reported Wednesday.

Broiler Slaughter
For week ending April 20, 2024, broiler slaughter is forecast at 161.871 million head, 2.43% down from 2023 for the respective week. Over the next six weeks, broiler slaughter is projected to average 165.992 million head per week, 1.02% lower than 2023. (Fig. 1)
