EIA Biofuels Capacity and Feedstock Update
The Energy Information Administration’s (EIA) Monthly Biofuels Capacity and Feedstocks Update, released on Tuesday April 30, showed that operable US biofuel capacity declined and feedstock demand increased during February. The monthly reduction in capacity was largely due to Chevron closing two biodiesel production facilities, which was partially offset by an increase in ethanol capacity. The Petroleum Supply Monthly report, released on Tuesday, disclosed refinery and blender net inputs of renewable fuel to be 27.5 million barrels, 377,000 barrels above January’s input, and 1.255 million barrels over February 2023. US inputs of renewable fuel were 58% of capacity.
