US soybean crush climbs by 5% in March

US soybean crush came in at 204 million bushels in March, the USDA reported on Wednesday May 1 in its latest Monthly Fats and Oils report.

The crush figure was up by 5.15% from 194 million bu in February and by 3.03% from 198 million bu in March 2023. However, the March crush figure was below the average market estimate of 206 million bushels.

Crude soybean oil produced in March totaled 2.41 billion lbs, up by 5% month on month and by 3% year on year. Refined US soybean oil production totaled 1.79 billion lbs in March, rising by 10% month on month but decreasing by 1% year on year. 

 

Domestic processors crushed 190,641 tons of canola seeds in March, down from 205,713 tons in March 2024 and from 191,291 tons in March 2023. US crude canola oil production totaled 150 million lbs, down by 10% month on month and 3% year on year.
