US animal protein prices remain under pressure; soymeal rises

US animal protein prices were mixed in the week to Friday May 3 but showed no large movements, with multiple market participants traveling for the Petfood Forum in Kansas City, Missouri, this week. A variety of products were under downward pressure in the week, though most remained rangebound.

Fastmarkets’ price assessment for bloodmeal, porcine, fob Iowa/Missouri/Nebraska was $1,000-1,125 per short ton on Friday. A price of $925 per ton was reported in the region but could not be confirmed as of press time.

The weekly price average was 1,082.50 per short ton, down by 1.37% from the average of $1,097.50 per ton in the week to April 26.
