Four cars of packer bleachable fancy tallow (BFT) and four cars of choice white grease (CWG) traded higher on a Chicago basis on Thursday. Packer BFT was up to 41.5 cents per lb and CWG traded at 40 cents per lb.

Max 20% free fatty acids (FFA) tallow traded into the Gulf at 43 cents per lb on Thursday.

Yellow grease traded sharply higher into the Carolinas market, up to 38-39 cents per lb for very heavy volume.

The USDA released export data this week for March with total estimates as tracked by Fastmarkets at 53,199 tonnes, the highest monthly total since April 2023.

There was a big jump in inedible tallow exports for March, estimated at 14,566 tonnes. The majority of tallow exports were destined for Singapore at 12,524 tonnes. Exports to Canada were estimated at 1,074 tonnes and to Mexico at 968 tonnes.
