EU tallow prices creep higher by €50 per tonne

Tallow prices increased in the EU market in the week to Thursday May 9. Edible beef tallow prices rose by €50 per tonne week on week, while Category 3 mixed animal fat was up by €30 per tonne.

The low-grade bone fat market was the exception, with prices down by €10 per tonne week on week.

The market was quiet overall, coming off of holiday downtime last week, but tighter supplies of raw material helped boost the market.

Used cooking oil (UCO) did trade lower into the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) market, with reports in the range of $970-980 per tonne CIF.

Trades for T1 UCO in flexitanks and ISO tanks were reported at $975 CIF ARA.

The Australian market was mostly flat week on week, but poultry tallow prices did surge on limited supply.
