Animal proteins steady to lower week on week; WASDE forecasts lower production year on year

US animal proteins were steady to lower week on week for the week to Friday May 10. Only light trade was reported for the second half of the week, leaving most values rangebound.

Reports of buyer pushback due to excess inventory levels in the market moved feathermeal lower, but only changed the weekly average from last week by less than five percent in all regions.

The weekly average for Fastmarkets’ assessment of bloodmeal, ruminant, fob Missouri River was $978 per short ton for the week to May 10, down by 5.28% from $1,032.50 per ton the week before and down by 19.17% from $1,210 per ton in the week to April 12.

The weekly average on bloodmeal, porcine, fob Iowa/Missouri/Nebraska was assessed by Fastmarkets at $1,055 per ton for the week to May 10. This is a 2.54% decrease from last week and a 17.03% decline from the week to April 12.
