US animal proteins’ relative pricing to soybean meal expected lower on May averages

US animal protein values remained steady for Thursday May 30, with the exception of bloodmeal, which remains under pressure.

Market sources in the Mid-Atlantic indicated tight inventory levels on porcine meat and bonemeal, with strong export and pet food demand. Bloodmeal was also indicated as tight in the region.

Fastmarkets’ price assessment for bloodmeal, porcine, fob Iowa/Missouri/Nebraska was $960-1,100 per short ton on Thursday, down from $1,100-1,150 per ton on Wednesday May 29. A low of $775 per ton was reported in the region, on limited volume.

Fastmarkets’ price assessment for bloodmeal, ruminant, fob Missouri River was $875-975 per ton on Thursday, down from $900-1,040 per ton on Wednesday.
