US domestic SAF generates record number of RINs in May

Production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in the US domestic market set a new record in May 2024 for the generation of renewable identification numbers (RINs), it was revealed on Thursday June 20.

During May, a total of 28.9 million RINs were generated from renewable jet fuel, the most for any month on record. The second-highest level was set in January of this year, at 15.5 million RINs.

The RINs generated on SAF during May alone represented two-thirds of the total for the year so far.
