Glycerin prices held steady on Monday June 24, with producers and traders reporting little change to begin the week.
Crude glycerin traders were quoting the market in the range of $0.06-0.08 per lb. Some of the higher-priced ranges from last week narrowed downward this week, indicating that the market may be comfortable where it currently is.
Kosher crude glycerin traders were quoting prices at a 3-5 cent per lb premium over the crude glycerin market. There were some top-end indications above the range, indicating the market to be a bit more volatile than the crude market.
Some kosher crude glycerin offers were heard as high as $0.16 per lb, but most reported trades were in the range of $0.11-0.14 per lb.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reported biodiesel blending data on Thursday June 20. May domestic biodiesel RIN generation was 5.8% above April, indicating a somewhat surprisingly strong market.
