Seasonality, tight nearby supply supportive of tallow market

Distiller’s corn oil trading on Thursday June 27 was higher for July shipment out of the Missouri River and Nebraska/Kansas markets. August trading was done at steady prices FOB Missouri River for the August shipment window.

The fats and used cooking oil (UCO) markets were quiet on Thursday, with most sources reporting that many have concluded most of their buying and selling ahead of the US Independence Day holiday on July 4, and are now shifting their focus to logistics.

Packer grade bleachable fancy tallow (BFT) prices are up 17% since the start of June, which has many asking, “is the market overcooked?”
