US animal proteins mixed on depressed CBOT soybean meal prices

The US animal proteins market was quiet on Tuesday July 16, sources told Fastmarkets, although product values were mixed for the day. Pressure from soybean meal continues to weigh on overall market sentiment for US animal proteins.

Meat and bonemeal was generally flat, although slight range adjustments were noted in the Mo. River and Indiana regions. Deals heard under $325 were reported for meat and bonemeal, porcine, fob Missouri River; however, no deals that low could be confirmed as of press time.

Bloodmeal was mixed, and porcine was higher due to active demand, although trade values outside the range on the high and low ends were indicated in limited volume in Indiana. One market source said they expect bloodmeal prices to drop in the near term due to soybean meal pressure and overall seasonal trends.
