International animal proteins bulletin July 18, 2024

International animal proteins were mixed in the week to Thursday July 18.

Prices in New Zealand were reported steady for the week, with one market source saying that demand has been slow for the past few weeks due to cold weather and diminished animal production.

Most prices moved lower in Australia. One market source said the spread of avian influenza in the Victoria region has diminished market access, while demand and export trade continues in other regions, leading to wider ranges for some products.

Fastmarkets assessed meat and bone meal, 50 Pro, delivered Australia at A$520-580 per tonne ($348-389) for the week to Thursday, down from $560-580 per tonne on July 11.

Fastmarkets assessed poultry by-product meal, petfood grade, 65 Pro, exports, delivered Australia at A$1,300-1,320 per tonne for the week to Thursday, down from A$1,320-1,340 per tonne on July 11.
