Regenerative agriculture labels have continued to grow, particularly in areas historically associated with organic production and consumption, like California. The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) formulated a Regenerative Agriculture Working Group last year to explore a potential policy shift at the agency.
A fifth listening session for public input is scheduled for Aug 22. Previous session revealed polarizing views in the state. Part of the scope of the working group’s charge is to establish a definition of regenerative agriculture. What we already know from the energy sector is that California policy moves markets, so this definition will be scrutinized.
