US spring wheat conditions deteriorate; harvest underway

Chicago Mercantile Exchange grain prices fell on Tuesday July 30, with the August CME soybean futures contract decreasing by 27.50 cents per bushel to settle at $10.27 per bu and August soymeal dropping by $3.50 per short ton to $352 per ton.

Meanwhile, the September CME corn futures contract declined by 7.50 cents per bu to $3.88 per bu, and September wheat futures fell by 7 cents per bu to close at $5.24 per bu.

Corn gluten meal prices increased slightly in the Midwest barge market, while corn gluten feed prices were steady across all regions on Tuesday. Market participants noted a continued lack of activity in the market.

Crop progress
US crop conditions for corn improved from the previous week, but spring wheat and soybeans deteriorated in the week to Sunday July 28, according to the USDA’s weekly crop progress report released on Monday July 29.
