August cattle slaughter forecast more in line with 2023 levels

The US animal protein market was quiet on Monday August 5, with no price adjustments.

Fastmarkets’ research team forecasts cattle slaughter at 610,000 head in the week to August 10, up by 1.16% from the corresponding period of 2023.

Over the next six weeks, cattle slaughter is expected to average 608,330 head per week, down by 0.46% year on year, according to Fastmarkets’ research team.
