Central Illinois soybean prices tumble to 3-year low

Chicago Mercantile Exchange grain prices rose across the board on Monday August 5.

The November soybean futures contract increased by 13.50 cents per bushel to settle at $10.40 per bu, and September soymeal jumped by $5 per short ton to $338.70 per ton.

Meanwhile, the September corn futures contract increased by 4.25 cents per bu to $3.90 per bu, and September wheat rose by 0.50 cents per bu to close at $5.39 per bu.

Distillers’ dried grain (DDG) prices held steady on Monday. Market participants noted that DDG prices may face downward pressure in the coming week due to boosted plant production and extreme heat affecting large parts of the US.

Weekly soybean crush
The crush margin in Central Illinois jumped in the week to Friday August 2, according to the National Weekly Grain Co-Products Report released by the USDA on Monday.
