Five cars of packer-grade bleachable fancy tallow traded lower on Thursday August 8, down by 2.00 cents per lb on the day at 46.50 cents per lb Chicago basis.
Choice white grease (CWG) prices also fell on Thursday, with the Chicago market decreasing by 1.75 cents to 46.00 cents per lb on a delivered basis. The FOB Missouri River market was assessed within a narrower range of 44-45 cents per lb, reflecting trades received at the lower end.
Aside from activity in the Chicago and Missouri River markets, trading was largely subdued on Thursday, with sources continuing to describe the overall market conditions as “soft.”
Meanwhile, the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) soybean oil prices extended their rebound, with the September contract gaining 10 cents per lb to settle at 42.17 cents per lb on Thursday.
