Organic feed wheat prices lower, questions on quality remain

Organic Wheat prices have declined further as growers and traders continue to look for outlets for their wheat to make room for storing fall corn and soybeans.  Growers will be keen to store organic corn and soybean harvests if prices continue at current levels.

Organic bakeries have adopted just-in-time inventory practices to avoid carry costs and realizing that it is an opportune time to allow sellers to store it for you for free. Carry costs can add considerable overhead at current interest rates and organic bread wheats seems plentiful to buyers. 

The caveat is quality, and some market participants have noted organic wheat quality may be flagging by Q1 2025. This year’s organic wheat harvest will have higher incidence of fusarium head blight because of damp conditions during flowering.
