Imported cargoes were heard trading at $990-1,010 per tonne CIF Rotterdam, while European UCO was reported traded for spot in the range of €990-1,020 ($1,086-1,119) per tonne depending on volumes and delivery window.
Sources reported high demand and trading for Category 3 animal fats with max 1-2% free fatty acids (FFA), with deals reported at €1,020 per tonne DDP North-West Europe (NWE), while some market representatives quoted edible beef tallow as high as €1,060 per tonne DDP NWE.
Prices are expected to continue rising for edible-grade fats, with steady demand coming from the pet food sector and biofuels producers.
High-quality fats are used to mix with lower grades in summer months due to FFA rising in hot weather.
