US weekly corn conditions steady; maturity stage under way at 5%

US crop conditions for soybean and corn were unchanged in the week to Sunday August 18, while spring wheat improved week on week, according to the USDA’s weekly crop progress report released on Monday August 19.

Corn silking reached 97% across the 18 reporting states, up by 3 percentage points from the previous week’s total but down by 1 percentage point from last year.

Corn dough was reported at 74%, up by 14 percentage points from last week and in line with last year’s figure.

Corn dented was reported at 30%, up by 12 percentage points from the previous week’s total and in line with last year’s figure.

Corn maturity is now under way in 12 states, standing at 5%, up by 2 percentage points from last year and the five-year average.
