US animal protein prices flat to down in sluggish market

US animal protein prices were steady to lower on Wednesday August 21, with market participants still reporting price pressure due to lower soybean meal futures, which increases price relativity, and sluggish markets ahead of the Labor Day holiday.

Fastmarkets assessed meat and bonemeal, porcine, Indiana at $310-350 per short ton on Wednesday, down from $315-375 per ton on Tuesday August 20.

Fastmarkets assessed bloodmeal, porcine, IA/MO/NE at $1,025-1,100 per short ton on Wednesday, down from $1,025-1,135 per ton on Tuesday.

Fastmarkets assessed bloodmeal, porcine, Indiana at $1,125-1,175 per short ton on Wednesday, steady from Tuesday. Prices were reported above the range, as high as $1,200 per short ton, but for limited volumes.
