International animal proteins, August 22, 2024

Prices in the international animal proteins market were mixed in the week to Thursday August 22, with Australian prices increasing and other regions unchanged from the previously assessed ranges.

Market sources in Australia said that most product prices were higher, except for meat and bonemeal, which was flat from the previous week due to increased slaughter on a yearly basis.

Traded prices for Australian poultry meal were higher in the week to Thursday, sources said, citing active demand among aqua, petfood and stockfeed end users. Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) has limited exports out of Australia, leaving prices flat for the week.

Fastmarkets assessed bloodmeal, 80 Pro, delivered Australia at A$1,140-1,160 ($764-777) per tonne on Thursday, up from A$1,090-1,110 per tonne on August 15.
