Category 3 fats traded at prices around €10-30 ($11-33) per tonne lower than the week before, depending on quality, quantity and location. Deals were reported in a wide range between €880 ($980) per tonne and €940 ($1,047) per tonne DDP North-West Europe (NWE) for max 5% free fatty acids (FFA) cargoes.
Higher quality edible fats remained stable in price amid lower availability, with sources reporting edible tallow around €970-980 per tonne, DDP NWE basis, and poultry fat with max 2% FFA at €1,010-1,020 per tonne DDP NWE.
“Trading activity was quite slow this week. We hope to see more trades in September, when quarterly sales start,” a trade source told Fastmarkets.
Some volumes of used cooking oil (UCO) traded at $970 per tonne CIF Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Antwerp (ARA) during the week, with standard quality specifications, while trades for higher iodine value (IV) cargoes were reported at $1,033 per tonne CIF.
