Trading in the US animal fats and oils market was subdued on Friday August 30, ahead of the Labor Day holiday weekend in the US. The only notable activity was in the distiller’s corn oil (DCO) market, where eight trucks traded at 43 cents per lb FOB Missouri River, late afternoon after Thursday August 29’s close.
FOB Missouri River prices averaged 0.47% higher week on week, while notable volumes traded nearly 6% higher by the end of this week, delivered into the Manly, Iowa market, compared with last week’s close.
Tallow and choice white grease (CWG) prices had modest declines during the week, with packer bleachable fancy tallow (BFT) and CWG FOB Missouri River prices dropping by 0.65% and 1.58% respectively. In contrast, tallow delivered into the Gulf market traded higher throughout the week, ranging from 45.5-46.5 cents per lb for both September and October purchases.
