WASDE forecasts lower year-on-year cattle, turkey production into 2025, higher pork, broiler

Trading in the US animal proteins market was quiet on Thursday September 12, with no changes reported.

The September World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE) update increased estimates for 2024/25 total production, with higher beef, pork, broiler and turkey production compared with the August report. The sum of all four livestock production estimates for 2024/25 was up by 278 million lb from the previous month’s figures.

In the September report, beef production in 2024 was forecast at 26.80 billion lb, up by 60 million lb from the August WASDE but still below 2023 total production estimates by 169 million lb.
