US corn sales for 2024/25 were reported at 666,500 tonnes in the week to September 5, landing below the USDA’s expected range of 700,000-1.6 million tonnes, USDA data showed on Thursday September 12.

Much of the increase came from Mexico (180,300 tonnes), unknown destinations (167,900 tonnes), Japan (81,200 tonnes), Colombia (78,900 tonnes) and South Korea (68,000 tonnes). The USDA groups undisclosed destinations under the umbrella term “unknown.”

A total of 1.45 million tonnes in sales were carried over from the 2023/2024 marketing year, which ended on August 31.

The accumulated export commitments reached 150.4% of the USDA forecast.

Exports in the week to August 31 were 267,400 tonnes which brought accumulated exports to 54.27 million tonnes, up 38% from the prior year’s total of 39.46 million tonnes.
