Central Illinois soybean, soymeal prices hit 1-month high: USDA

The soybean crush margin in Central Illinois rose by 0.5% week on week and was up by 2% year on year in the week to Friday September 27, according to the National Weekly Grain Co-Products Report released by the USDA on Monday September 30.

In the week to Friday, soybean meal prices rose to a one-month high of $361.58 per short ton, up by 2.4% week on week from $353.03 per ton but down by 7.9% year on year, the USDA report said.

Soybean prices also reached a one-month high of $10.46 per bushel, up by 2.5% week on week from $10.20 per bu but down by 20.4% from the previous year.

The price of soybean oil increased to 43.90 cents per lb, up by 1.5% week on week from 43.25 cents per lb but down by 26.8% year on year.

The increase for soybeans, soybean oil and soybean meal prices led to a crush margin of $3.13 per bu, up by 28 cents per bu from the prior six-week average of $2.85 per bu.
