Porcine, ruminant bloodmeal under price pressure

Porcine, ruminant bloodmeal under price pressure

Underlying pressure on US animal proteins continued to be reported to Fastmarkets on Thursday October 10, though price adjustments were limited to bloodmeal and meat and bonemeal.

A softer tone on ruminant meat and bonemeal was reported in the Missouri River, Texas Panhandle and Dallas/Houston regions, though prices remained within the previously set ranges. A high of $300 per short ton was reported from several market sources to Fastmarkets due to a combination of diminished pet food demand, higher slaughter levels in the fourth quarter and feed reformulations weighing on prices.

Fastmarkets assessed porcine meat and bonemeal, Missouri River at $300-350 per ton on Thursday, steady from the range on Wednesday October 9. Prices under the range were indicated, but could not be confirmed as of press time.
