US corn sales for 2024/25 were reported at 1.22 million tonnes in the week to October 3, down by 27.4% from the previous week and landing within the US Department of Agriculture’s expected range of 900,000-1.7 million tonnes, USDA data showed on Thursday October 10.

Much of the increase came from unknown destinations (371,200 tonnes), Mexico (329,700 tonnes), Colombia (248,900 tonnes), Japan (194,100 tonnes) and Spain (40,000 tonnes). The USDA groups undisclosed destinations under the umbrella term “unknown.”

These gains were partly offset by reductions for Honduras (34,000 tonnes), El Salvador (9,500 tonnes) and South Korea (8,000 tonnes).

The accumulated export commitments reached 149.2% of the USDA forecast.

Exports of 1.06 million tonnes were primarily to Mexico (540,000 tonnes), Japan (250,300 tonnes), South Korea (130,100 tonnes), Colombia (41,700 tonnes) and Nicaragua (33,200 tonnes).
