Light trade volume leaves most animal protein products prices flat

US animal proteins were steady to lower on Wednesday October 16, with the only price change on porcine bloodmeal, Iowa/Missouri/Nebraska.

Fastmarkets assessed bloodmeal, porcine, fob IA/MO/NE at $875-970 per short ton, down from $890-990 per ton on Tuesday October 15.

US broiler slaughter
Fastmarkets’ research team forecasts broiler slaughter at 164.90 million head in the week to Saturday October 19, 1.94% down from the same period in 2023.

Over the next six weeks, broiler slaughter is expected to average 168.07 million head per week, higher by 3.30% year on year, according to Fastmarkets’ research team.
