US weekly corn export sales up by 82%, above estimates

US corn sales for 2024/25 were reported at 2.22 million tonnes in the week to October 10, up by 82% from the previous week and up noticeably from the prior four-week average, landing above the US Department of Agriculture’s expected range of 1.2 million-2.2 million tonnes, USDA data showed on Friday October 18.

Much of the increase came from unknown destinations (902,900 tonnes), Japan (452,700 tonnes), Colombia (244,500 tonnes), Mexico (231,800 tonnes) and Honduras (103,400 tonnes). The USDA groups undisclosed destinations under the umbrella term “unknown.”

The accumulated export commitments reached 151.4% of the USDA forecast.

Exports of 501,800 tonnes were down by 53% from the previous week and down by 49% from the prior four-week average.
