US ethanol production reaches 2-month high; stocks slip

Weekly average ethanol production in the US hit a two-month high of 1.08 million barrels per day in the week to Friday October 18, up by 39,000 bpd from a week earlier and by 3.9% year on year, according to reports by the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) on Wednesday October 23.

Ethanol stocks were reported at 22.22 million barrels, down by 52,000 barrels week on week but up by 3.8% year on year.

Demand for corn increased by 3.7% from the previous week and by 3.9% year on year. Approximately 16.01 million bushels of corn per day were used for ethanol production.

Livestock feed production totaled 115,600 tonnes in the week to October 18. Distillers’ dried grain (DDG) production accounted for 102,812 tonnes, with the remaining amount consisting of 10,790 tonnes of corn gluten feed and 1,998 tonnes of corn gluten meal.
