Australian animal protein prices rise on strong domestic demand

Prices in the international animal proteins market were mixed in the week to Thursday October 31.

Limited trade was reported in New Zealand during the week.

Fastmarkets assessed the price of bloodmeal, 80 pro, Australia at A$1,145-1,175 ($767-787) per tonne on Thursday, up from A$1,090-1,110 per tonne on October 24.

Fastmarkets assessed meat and bonemeal, 50 pro, delivered Australia at A$575-600 per tonne on Thursday, narrowing from A$560-660 per tonne on October 24. Meat and bonemeal prices were reportedly higher due to consistent production and good local demand, one source told Fastmarkets.

Fastmarkets assessed the price of poultry by-product, petfood grade, 65 Pro, export, delivered Australia at A$1,125-1,175 per tonne on Thursday, narrowing upward from A$1,100-1,175 per tonne on October 24.
