Market sources told Fastmarkets that there are varied poultry and layer feed demand levels, with some indicating diminished use of protein products in animal feed due to the higher relative prices to grains. Steady demand was indicated in pet food for meat and bonemeal, tightening inventory levels at some locations more than others.
Fastmarkets assessed meat and bonemeal, ruminant, Missouri River at $250-320 per short ton on Wednesday. Mixed species ruminant meat and bonemeal was in a range of $250-280 per ton while the majority of pure beef fell into a range of $280-320 per ton, though some continue to report as high as $375 per ton.
