Central Illinois soymeal prices continue to fall, reaching 4-year low

In the week to Friday November 15, the soybean crush margin in Central Illinois decreased by 20.9% week on week and by 32.7% year on year, according to the USDA’s National Weekly Grain Co-Products Report released on Monday November 18.

In the week to Friday, soybean meal prices dropped to a four-year low of $311.40 per short ton, down by 3.9% week on week from $323.90 per ton and by 34.3% year on year.

Soybean prices fell to $9.99 per bushel, down by 0.7% week on week from $10.06 per bu and by 26.8% from a year earlier.

Soybean oil prices dropped to 45.11 cents per lb, down by 7.9% week on week from 48.99 cents per lb and down by 17.5% year on year.

The decrease in soybean, soybean oil and soybean meal prices led to a crush margin of $2.57 per bu, down by 75 cents per bu from the prior six-week average of $3.32 per bu.
