The USDA published the 34th crop progress report for the 2024 growing season on Monday November 18, covering data for the week to Sunday.
Winter wheat
Winter wheat planting was reported at 94%, up by 3 percentage points from the previous week, in line with last year’s levels, but down by 2 percentage points from the five-year average.
Winter wheat that had emerged was reported at 84%, up by 8 percentage points week on week, but down by 1 percentage point year on year, and in line with the five-year average.
Winter wheat conditions were 49% good to excellent, up by 5 percentage points from the previous week’s figure and above the 48% good-to-excellent rating last year.
The 2024 crop rated in poor-to-very-poor condition fell by 3 percentage points from the previous week’s figure at 18% and down from 17% a year earlier.
