US weekly ethanol production at 1.078 million bpd; stocks slip

US weekly average ethanol production reached 1.078 million barrels per day in the week to Friday December 6, according to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) report on Wednesday December 11. This marked an increase of 5,000 bpd from the previous week and of 0.4% year on year.

Ethanol stocks were reported at 22.648 million barrels, down by 355,000 barrels week on week, but up by 2.5% year on year.

Demand for corn increased by 0.5% from the previous week and by 0.4% year on year. Approximately 15.97 million bushels of corn per day were used for ethanol production.

Livestock feed production totaled 115,280 tonnes in the week to Friday. Distillers’ dried grain (DDG) production accounted for 102,526 tonnes, with the remaining amount consisting of 10,760 tonnes of corn gluten feed and 1,993 tonnes of corn gluten meal.
