Indonesia MBM prices fall on slow demand

Indonesian bovine meat and bone meal (MBM) imports traded down to a range of $480-490 per tonne CIF in the week ended Thursday December 12, pressured by slower demand and an uptick in offers from multiple sellers.

Weakness in the US market may have contributed to the downturn into Indonesia, with pure beef MBM selling at $330 per tonne FOB US interior this week.
Prices into China were stable for bovine MBM and trading into Vietnam and Malaysia were indicated steady as well, in a range of $440-450 per tonne CIF.

With some tighter holiday production expected in the US and the Australian market, the recent weakness could be a sign of a floor in the market, especially with buyers in Indonesia historically increasing their purchases ahead of the Ramadan holiday, observed February 28-March 29, 2025.
