Most grain prices on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange rose on Friday December 20. The January soybean futures contract jumped by 11.50 cents per bushel, settling at $9.74 per bu, while March wheat was unchanged at $5.33 per bu.

Meanwhile, January soybean meal increased by $10.40 per short ton to $294.50 per ton, and March corn rose by 5.50 cents per bu to $4.46 per bu.

Distillers’ dried grain (DDG) prices increased in the Michigan, Ohio and Channahon, Illinois markets this week, while holding steady in other regions. Market participants said that prices were steady to slightly higher, likely driven by cold weather boosting nearby demand, while plant activity may be slowing down due to poor margins.
