Category 1 and 2 fat prices were unchanged at €780-800 per tonne DDP NWE, with bids heard at €775 per tonne for delivery into France.
“Demand is very good for animal fats; with biofuel producers actively booking [first-quarter] volumes, cargo availability might become an issue later this year,” a Europe-based source told Fastmarkets.
Buying interest for poultry fats also remained strong, with animal feed producers seeking substitution due to higher soybean oil prices.
Poultry fat with up to 7% FFA was quoted at €1,010 per tonne DDP NWE, while soybean oil was assessed at €1,035 per tonne on the FCA Rotterdam basis, making the fats a more attractive alternative despite a recent price increase.
