US weekly ethanol production up to 1.099 million bpd; stocks reach nine-month high

US weekly average ethanol production rose to 1.099 million barrels per day in the week to January 17, according to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) report released on Thursday January 23. This marked an increase of 4,000 bpd from the previous week and up by 34% year on year.

Ethanol stocks hit a nine-month high of 25.87 million barrels, up by 866,000 barrels week on week, and up by 0.2% year on year.

Demand for corn increased by 0.4% from the previous week and up by 34% year on year. Approximately 16.28 million bushels of corn per day were used for ethanol production.

Livestock feed production totaled 117,525 tonnes in the week to Friday. Distillers’ dried grain (DDG) production accounted for 104,524 tonnes, with the remaining amount consisting of 10,970 tonnes of corn gluten feed and 2,031 tonnes of corn gluten meal.
